1. McArthur Group Ltd (including its Subsidiary Companies) is committed to achieving the highest standards in every area of Business. It follows that proper attention to occupational health, safety, environmental and fire prevention is an equal and integral part of this commitment. This policy is intended for all employers, contractors, and sub contractors and will be made available to the public and interested parties upon request.
3. McArthur Group demonstrates a commitment to continual improvement in its environmental and health and safety performance, through the application and reviewing of processes and procedures aimed at achieving objectives and targets related to the various aspects and impacts arising from its activities, products and services.
4. McArthur Group is committed to reducing its carbon/eco footprint and the prevention of polluting practices.
5. Within his/her area of authority each manager should seek to:-
a) provide a healthy and safe working environment and control the risk of damage to plant, equipment, products and the environment:
b) secure compliance with legal obligations in relation to health safety and the environment:
c) require others who carry out work or visit Company sites or provide services to adopt similar standards in relation to health, safety and the environment when working on McArthur Group Ltd's sites.
6. Employees should not endanger their own Health and Safety nor put others at risk, and should follow safe working practices applicable to their work at all times.
7. The organisation and arrangements required to make this policy work will be established and maintained by each Establishment within the McArthur Group Ltd.
a) The Chief Executive is to ensure that the Board's policies are adopted and that the Company's performance is monitored on behalf of any safety or environmental matters.
9. The Board of Directors are responsible for the health, safety and environmental policies of the Company and its wholly owned subsidiaries and those which it controls.
10. The Executive Management of the Company is responsible for implementing this policy.
a) The Chief Executive is to ensure that the Board's policies are adopted and that the Company's performance is monitored on behalf of any safety or environmental matter.
b) The Regional Managers in charge of Branches are responsible to the Board of Directors for:
i) ensuring that the Company's policy is implemented within their area of operational control by agreeing and co-ordinating a programme of work for health, safety and the environment, setting objectives and monitoring their effectiveness and achievements.
ii) ensuring that details of the organisation and arrangements for implementing the policy are published at each establishment within their area of control.
iii) ensuring that those to whom health, safety and environmental responsibilities are delegated fully understand and meet those responsibilities.
iv) ensuring that reports drawing attention to any weakness in practice or procedures in their area of responsibility are properly prepared and actioned to eliminate those weaknesses.
c) The Manager of each Branch or subsidiary company is responsible for keeping appropriate Regional Managers of McArthur Group Ltd informed on any relevant health, safety and environmental matters and for implementing Company Policy at his/her branch.
d) The Group Health & Safety Committee are, in addition, responsible for:
i) proposing any necessary revisions and developments to the Company's health safety and environmental policy:
ii) ensuring that the implications of McArthur Group Ltd's Health, Safety and Environmental Policy form an integral part of the policies, programmes and general activities of McArthur Group Ltd.
iii) monitoring through health, safety and environmental assessment or otherwise the implementation of the health, safety and environmental policy.
iv) providing for the Company and it's subsidiaries a co-ordinated and effective company-wide advisory service on health, safety, environment and fire precautions, including training where appropriate.
v) monitoring through assessments or otherwise the implementation of the health, safety and environmental policy.
vi) assessing the impact of proposals for new European and national legislation or standards, informing and advising management and making any necessary comment to those responsible.
vii) implementing the Company's Health, Safety and Environmental Policy as it effects all employees within the Head Office Finance function.
e) Branch Managers and Departmental Managers assisted by the Regional Officers have the overall responsibility within their areas of control, as embodied in appropriate instructions, for furthering the purposes of the Company health, safety and environmental policy, particularly:
i) positive health, safety and environmental management such that hazards are identified, risks evaluated and any appropriate steps taken to ensure that suitable safeguards are provided where the risks cannot be evaluated.
ii) Standards - The implementation of measures to establish standards and ensure that those standards are applied at all levels in order to meet the requirements of legislation and company policy appropriate to their working location.
iii) New Plant and Process - The compliance with appropriate standards
of health, safety and the environment in the design and installation of new plant and processes.
iv) Procedures - The preparation and approval of formal practical procedures
where necessary to assist in safe working and environmental protection practices, with review and amendment from time to time as necessary, and appropriate monitoring of their application.
v) Disaster Plans and Emergency Preparedness - The establishment of disaster plans and emergency preparedness, their communication and practice on a regular basis.
vi) Safety and Environmental Audits - The introduction of safety and environmental audits to identify risks and to monitor standards and procedures together with any necessary follow up action.
vii) Objectives and Targets - The commitment to continual improvement requires the formulation of objectives and targets and the programmes and procedures for the improvement of performance, monitoring them and taking follow-up action when necessary.
viii) Accidents, Serious Accidents and Environmental Hazards- The investigation and reporting of serious accidents and other serious incidents with appropriate management involvement, including the determination and execution of corrective measures.
ix) Information - The preparation of practical guidance and advice on key aspects of health, safety and environmental issues at work based on known risks.
x) Training - The provision of appropriate training programmes.
xi) Suppliers – Group Purchasing Managers / Products Managers to obtain information from suppliers on hazards associated with the use of articles or substances purchased or used by the company and making that information available to those concerned.
xii) Customers - Making information available to customers to enable them to take appropriate precautions in connection with the use at work of Company products or services to prevent risk to their employees, customers or members of the public.
xiii Contractors - Implementing and monitoring the application of the Company policy on the Health, Safety and Environmental aspects of Contractor activity.
xiv) Records - Maintaining records of accidents at work, health and environmental records throughout the company and to use them to monitor progress.
a) ensuring that safe working procedures are followed and that safe working conditions are maintained:
b) seeing that employees are trained and instructed in safe working methods and follow them:
c) investigating accidents and taking reasonable steps whenever possible to prevent a reoccurrence.
In particular:-
a) for following safe working procedures at all times and ensuring as far as possible that others do so:
b) for informing their supervisor or manager of any dangerous, potentially dangerous or hazardous situation which comes to their notice:
c) for maintaining their place of work as a safe working environment.
14. A safe working environment is on the interest of everybody, therefore failure to comply with the Health Safety and Environment policy requirements will be regarded as a disciplinary offence

2. It is McArthur Group Limited's policy to safeguard the health, safety and the environment of its employees and others working in or visiting its premises, including contractors and their employees, who might be subject to risk from its activities and of any others who may be affected by its operations.3. Responsibilities - Management
8. The primary responsibility for following the policy, as embodying the appropriate job descriptions written or verbal, rests with executive management at all levels in the organisation who will be held accountable for ensuring that positive action is taken to implement it.9. The Board of Directors are responsible for the health, safety and environmental policies of the Company and its wholly owned subsidiaries and those which it controls.

c) investigating accidents and taking reasonable steps whenever possible to prevent a reoccurrence.
Responsibilities - All Employees
12. All McArthur Group Ltd employees are responsible for actively co-operating in the application of this health, safety and environmental policy and for compliance with legal obligations in relation to health safety and the environment.In particular:-
a) for following safe working procedures at all times and ensuring as far as possible that others do so:
b) for informing their supervisor or manager of any dangerous, potentially dangerous or hazardous situation which comes to their notice:
c) for maintaining their place of work as a safe working environment.
