Galvanisers gather at Forfar plant
A FORFAR galvanising plant recently welcomed visitors from countries including Brazil, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Holland and Norway.
The Forfar Galvanisers were the centre of worldwide scrutiny as it hosted 75 key figures from the industry who chose the Forfar site due to its environmental awareness.
The industry figures have gathered in Scotland for a summit of the European General Galvanisers Association, with Forfar chosen for a hands-on insight.
The Forfar company, which was founded in 2000 and has a staff of 18 uses a number of environmental systems unique in the
galvanising industry.
A spokesman for the Company said: "The visit is a great testament to the vision and effort put into the design of the facility.

"We risked putting in processes that were not required at the time. However,
we believed that environmental standards would become more important over time
and we wanted to ensure we took the future into account."
Forfar Galvanisers is a joint venture between town engineering company David Ritchie (Implements) Ltd and fencing manufacturers McArthur Group.
They created a plant with an automated system aimed at cutting the risk of handling damage and providing a constant flow of material throughout the process.
The system works with a Swedish-designed air emission cleaning system to benefit the environment.
The firm's galvanising bath, at 5.5 metres long, 1.5 metres wide and 2.8 metres deep, is the largest in Scotland.
